Greetings fellow Rotarians,
Here is a meeting recap from May 17 & May 31:
May 17
Students are asked to pick a challenge and focus on real world issues. The girls who presented for our club talked about mental health and the stigmas that are attached. They did a fantastic job with a tough issue. The girls were headed to
Knoxville for the Global Finals which will be held in late May in Tennessee. Our club made a donation to the District 45 Destination Imagination group at this meeting.
May 31
Announcements:
George made a request and motion to donate $200.00 to the Addison School District 4 Educational Foundation for Excellence (a non-profit organization that was established in 2006 in order to support projects which will enhance the learning experiences of District 4 students). The Foundation helps teachers purchase items for their classrooms that are not covered in school budgets, among other projects. Buzz Janis seconded the motion. All were in favor. None present were opposed. Motion passed to donate $200.00 to the Addison School District 4 Educational Foundation.
Happy news was shared.
President Pavelchik is waiting to hear back from the students who were awarded scholarships by our club. He is hoping to have them attend an upcoming meeting.
The President's Raffle was not held this week. It will be back next week and we will draw two names.
At today's meeting we celebrated three birthdays: Earl (June 4), Jan and Karen (June 6). After singing happy birthday, we celebrated with a delicious cake! Happy birthday Earl, Jan and Karen!
Respectfully submitted,
Kandice Krettler, Secretary
