We had two guests in attendance today.

Happy news was shared.

A reminder was given about the social outing at Wheatstacks in Lisle this coming Saturday night (April 16). The address is: 5900 S. Route 53 in Lisle, 60532.  The website is: http://www.wheatstacklisle.com/index.html. The dueling piano show is from 7:30-10:30pm.

Nancy Dorsman from the Humanitarian Service Project gave a presentation about the HSP and what they do.  HSP began in 1979.  They are located in Carol Stream. They serve families, senior citizens and kids affected by poverty.  The HSP operates five programs to fulfill its mission of alleviating the burdens of poverty. Two serve children alone (Children’s Birthday Project and the School Supply Drive); one serves seniors alone (Senior Citizen Project); one serves children and through them, families (Feed the Kids); and the last serves them all (Christmas Offering). The Senior Citizen Project provides food and "wish list" items to seniors.  Every 30 days the seniors also receive donated personal hygiene items. The Children's Birthday Project provides kids ages 3-11 special "birthday boxes" which have a variety of items in them including: books, toys, and a "party in a bag" which comes with everything a family would need to throw a party for the child. HSP also holds a school supply drive in August and September, as well as "feed the kids", which is a summer lunch program, as well as a Christmas offering, where families would receive food and a few gifts for each child in the family.  If you are interested in volunteering or donating, you can contact the HSP directly at (630) 221-8340, or visit their website at: http://humanitarianservice.org/index.html for more information about the projects mentioned above.  The Villa Park Rotary Club also made a donation and presentation of the check to the HSP at today's meeting.
